For those of you who may or may not be familiar with e-cigarettes, it’s being touted by many as one of the biggest health trends in 2009.  E-cigarettes, or more commonly known as Electronic Cigarettes, were first introduced in 2007, and since then, the use of electronic cigarettes has amassed a steady and ever increasing number of users.

So why choose e-cigarettes?  They are considered by many as a “harm reducing substitute to conventional cigarettes.”   Electronic Cigarettes are completely tobacco and tar free.  Unlike a conventional cigarette, which contains thousands of chemicals, many of which are carcinogenic and proven to be toxic, the electronic cigarette contains about 20 ingredients of which none have yet been proven to be toxic.  The electronic cigarette is a battery operated device which allows the smoker to take pleasure in the smoking ritual without inhaling the noxious chemicals contained in a conventional cigarette.  With Blu rechargeable packs for e-cigarettes, you can even charge your e-cig when you are away from home.

Electronic cigarettes give smokers of conventional cigarettes the freedom and convenience to smoke in places that have increasingly become forbidden to smoke in over the past few years.  With an e-cigarette, you can now smoke wherever and whenever you want.  Whether it’s in the middle of a restaurant, the mall, the library or yes, even the hospital.  How is this possible you say?  A smoker inhales on an electronic cigarette just as they would on a conventional cigarette.  However, when he exhales, what comes out looks like smoke, but is actually water vapor.  This means that nobody is ever exposed to “second-hand smoke” as they are with regular cigarettes.

What about the nicotine?  When you buy electronic cigarettes, you can control the amount of nicotine you inhale by buying the varying strengths that are offered.  Most brands offer High, Medium, Low and Zero nicotine content cartridges.  The amount of nicotine delivered is about the same as in a regular cigarette, with the exception of the zero nicotine content cartridge that is offered.   One pack of ordinary, conventional cigarettes delivers about 22mg of nicotine per pack.  One cartridge for an electronic cigarette is equivalent to about a half to a full pack of regular cigarettes, and delivers anywhere from 16mg of nicotine (High nicotine content cartridge) on down to 0 mg of nicotine content (Zero nicotine content cartridge).  So, it really is up to the individual smoker how much nicotine is delivered.  In electronic cigarette reviews, smokers loved the flexibility of this product.

How exactly do electronic cigarettes work?  Well, they work quite simply as a matter fact.  They basically consist of a battery, an atomizer and the nicotine cartridge.  The batteries are efficient, powerful and rechargeable. The batteries are also wired, so that the end of the e-cigarette emulates the glowing “cherry” on the end of a regular cigarette.  The atomizer is activated when the smoker inhales by heating up the air that’s flowing into the apparatus which vaporizes the nicotine liquid, making it deliverable to the smoker. The nicotine cartridge consists of a mouthpiece and a reservoir area for the liquid nicotine.  Many manufacturers of electronic cigarettes offer cartridges that are available in several flavors, such as tobacco, cherry, vanilla, menthol and orange, just to name a few.

Are there a variety of styles available?  Absolutely!  Many makers of the electronic cigarette offer Mini electronic cigarettes (a little smaller than a regular cigarette), Maxi electronic cigarettes (about the size of a small cigar), Pen style electronic cigarettes (looks like an ink pen), Electronic cigar style, Electronic pipe style, Disposable e-cigarettes, and believe it or not, a Screwdriver style (yes, it looks like a real screwdriver) is even being offered by some e-cigarette makers.  You can purchase them from a variety of companies, including Luci E-Cigarettes.  This really does make the possibilities for smoking everywhere utterly endless indeed!
