The Temecula Valley is fast becoming one the best wine-making regions in Southern California. For the past ten years, the number of wineries in Temecula has more than doubled. The area’s reputation for making fine wine is on the rise as they continue to win major wine competitions.
Typically, Napa Valley takes the top honors, but this year at the California State Fair, it was announced that it’s Best of Class and Best of Show wasn’t going to a Napa, but to Temecula Valley.

The history of wine making starts back in the 1820’s when the first vineyard was established in Temecula at the mission. It wasn’t until the 1960’s when developers first started to create what is known as Wine Country today.
The first two wineries that opened in 1967 and 1968 respectively were Bella Vista Cilurzo Winery and Vineyard and Callaway Winery. Although considered a small wine-making region, Temecula is home to twenty vineyards. Each winery has its own distinct wine and style. Navigating through each vineyard alphabetically, at Alex’s Red Barn Winery, you’ll enjoy Cabernet Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, produced in one of the oldest vineyards in the Valley. At Falkner Winery, you’ll be able to sample award-winning wines such as Viognier, Merlot, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Amante. Both the Hart Winery and Keyways Vineyard & Winery produce Merlot’s and Sauvignon Blanc’s.
For a resort feel, South Coast Winery is a one-stop destination to indulge in your favorite wine or relax in your private villa overlooking the vineyards. Not far way is Thornton Winery who is best known for their Champagne. The Victorian style Maurice Car’rie Winery sits on 46 acres and has a large selection of wines to choose from.

Tennessee’s history began in 1796 when it became the 16th state of the Union. The name of Tennessee comes from the Cherokee name Tanasai, which was a Village in the area.
With the first arrivals of settlers in the 1790’s, such as Timothy Demontbruen, James Robertson and the Donelson Party, Tennessee quickly cut it ties as being known as the western part of North Carolina, and later The State of Franklin, and applied for admission into the Union. In the 1840’s educator Philip Lindsay thought that Nashville should encourage the ideals of Classical Greek education, such as Philosophy and Latin and be known as the Athens of the West. Nashville would later be given a similar nick-name; Athens of the South.

In any endeavor there is often one key item that can bring everything to a grinding halt. When you’re on your way to work in the morning that item is your car key, for example. If you can’t locate your keys, everything comes to a grinding halt and you aren’t able to drive to work, despite the big shiny car parked in the driveway. Oh sure, you can call a taxi, but that’s not going to get you there on time, and it’s going to be an expensive work-around. If you run a small retail operation, there are any number of little things that could interrupt the day’s activities.
Of course, like your car keys, if you can’t find the door keys to open up shop for the day, business is going to be a little slow, at least until you can get inside, but let’s assume that you are able to get the doors open, flip the sign over to “open,” and be ready for customers. Running out of inventory will certainly put a damper in the day’s receipts, even if it’s just one popular item that is out of stock.
Speaking of the day’s receipts, if you run out of thermal paper for the cash register, then you’re not going to be able to ring up any sales either. If that happens, you do have two choices to fix the problem, though. Geography is the study of the Earth
Geography is the study of the Earth – it literally means earth study from the Greek geo for earth and graphia to describe. By study of the earth we mean study of the lands, landscape features, creatures, and other phenomena such as processes e.g. the weather.
The first person to use the word “geography” was Eratosthenes (276-194 B.C.) a typical polymath of his time who was an expert in mathematics and astronomy amongst others. He was the first person to successfully (and remarkably accurately calculate the circumference of the earth, developed ideas of latitude and longitude, worked out the tilt of the axis of the earth and produced a world map based on the knowledge of the time.
There are four traditions in geographical research namely the spatial analysis of natural (or physical) and human phenomena, the study of places and regions, the study of man-land relationships, and earth sciences. As geography has modernized it has become an all-encompassing discipline that seeks most fundamentally to understand the Earth in an holistic manner. It has moved away from simple descriptive studies of where things are and added the more important approach of attempting to explain how they have come to be and how they have changed over time. As such geography is a bridge between and among the human and physical sciences.
Naturally this means that geography as an academic discipline can be split broadly into two: human geography and physical geography. The former concentrates on the built environment and how space is created and managed by people. It looks at how people influence the space they occupy as they develop different approaches to living within their environments. The latter examines the natural or physical environment and how the components of it interact to produce the marvelously complex world around us.
In very recent times, the increasing realization that human and physical geography are inextricably linked and interdependent despite having different approaches, has led to the emergence of a third distinct field – environmental geography. Environmental geography combines physical and human geography and looks at the interactions between the environment and humans – something which we find increasingly relevant in modern times.

The vast majority of independent professional photographers these days, use digital cameras. Today’s professional quality DSLR cameras have a digital resolution that matches or in many cases exceeds that of traditional film cameras. When you add to that the convenience of using high capacity flash storage cards to hold hundreds and hundreds of pictures without having to stop and change film, the decision to go digital is an easy one for most professional photographers.
Another advantage of digital is that there are no costs for film. That means that a photographer can literally take a hundred or more pictures in order to get that one perfect shot without having to pay for the film for all the wasted shots. Instead of picking and choosing every shutter click, the digital photographer can capture everything, all day long. There is no need to worry about how much film to bring, or lugging it to inhospitable field locations. A couple of flash cards take up little more space than a typical postage stamp and can hold several busy days worth of shooting.
Batteries can still be an issue; digital cameras are notorious for their battery drain. Good quality rechargeable batteries can both lower expenses over the long term, and provide a reasonable battery life. Even so, extra batteries should be taken along on any extended shooting session. If the photographer has access to an electric outlet at the shooting location, good battery chargers can fully recharge a set of batteries in about an hour’s time.
Good photographs are worth an incredible amount of money over their lifetime. The photographer may sell the same image in various sizes, framed, matted, as post cards, or autographed limited edition sets, over and over again. Artists who regularly offer their work for sale to the general public will soon find which of their photos are frequent sellers, and which, despite the photographer’s personal fondness for them, don’t seem to appeal to the buying public.
All of these photos are stored digitally. The artist may copy them to CD-ROM, store them on an external hard drive, or even just catalogue piles and piles of flash cards. However, they are stored, they can be very valuable files for the photographer who makes his living by selling his images to the public. These digital files are used over and over again to make new prints and replenish the artist’s inventory. The loss of a hard drive or even a single flash card or CD-ROM full of images can be a serious financial blow to a photographer.
Most photographers will have one or more back-up copies of every stored image. That way if one disk or drive fails, they have not lost anything. Occasionally, though, disaster may strike. Either the artist has neglected to make back-up copies or some broader event damages several sets of copies at once. There are some fashion accessories that are really more than just style statements. Chief among them is the handbag. While a well-designed handbag can make or break an entire outfit, its functional importance often outweighs its aesthetic impact.
From a fashion and beauty perspective, the handbag serves a secondary purpose quite apart from its own appearance. Other important accessories can also be kept in the handbag. The modern fashionista knows the importance of electronic devices as fashion accessories. A cell phone, of course, is the biggie. Not only does your choice of phones make a statement about you, but fashionable skins can be applied to the phone to make sure that it coordinates with the outfit that you have selected for the evening. An important consideration for today’s assertive female, is the ability to punch the phone number of a new “acquaintance” into the phone instead of scribbling on a scrap of paper like any commoner.
For the train commute to work, an iPod and earbuds, not only makes a fashion statement, but also present the aloof, above it all, attitude of someone choosing not immerse themselves in music rather than conversation with strangers. Again, though, the music player should be “skinned” to coordinate properly, though for the commute, matching it to an overcoat is more appropriate.
Of course, the most important all purpose fashion accessory of all should be carried in the handbag at all times. That one item that can instantly fix any fashion problem is of course, the credit card.

Becoming an independent contractor requires more than just knowledge of the trade. Of course, you do need to know your craft whether you are planning to become a general building contractor, an electrical contractor, or some other type of contractor, but there are lots of other things you’ll need to know as well.
You’ll need to understand basic accounting in order to run your business profitably. You’ll need to keep your financial records according to IRS standards, and calculate profit and loss, and other basic measures of the health of your business. You could hire someone to handle all the book-keeping and accounting, but unless you have the ability to check those records and to understand them, you’ll be at the mercy of their honesty, or lack thereof. Many a businessman has been ruined and driven to bankruptcy by unscrupulous accountants who had no oversight from the business owner.
You’ll also need to know basic business law. When you and your customer disagree over some point and you can’t settle the matter amiably, you may need to go to court to collect your money. Conversely, your customer may take you to court demanding that you complete a job or even that you pay damages for breach of contract. Understanding contract law and knowing shoes side the law is on in these disputes helps you to both avoid the high costs of going to court, and gives you additional negotiating power when trying to settle arguments.
Of course, you need to know the laws regarding job site safety precautions. If you get caught on the wrong side of this one, you could be looking at staggering fines or even jail time in some cases. Even more important is the fact that if you fail to follow proper safety procedures, someone could get seriously injured or even killed. Some of the safety regulations are just common sense, but others are less obvious and it may take some dedicated study to understand them all.
The rules regarding contracting also vary from state to state, for example, in California, a contractor with a general building contractor license, can’t take a job that requires only the skills of one specific trade. He can’t accept a job to rewire a house, for example, if all that is required is electrical work. Conversely, the electrical contractor can’t accept primary responsibility for jobs that require the skills of several different trades such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing or any of the dozens of other types of specialty contractors even if the job involves electrical work as well. Knowing these rules is important if you want to keep your contracting license.
In California, all of these areas are covered on the contractor’s license exam. If you don’t know them, not only can it lead to trouble down the road, but you won’t be able to pass the license exam in the first place. Maybe that’s why more than 60 percent of all those who take the exam in Claifornia fail on their first attempt. With proper preparation, you’ll not only pass the license exam, but you’ll have all the skills and knowledge to go on to a build a successful contracting business.
